Our guest hoppers this month are:
Yolanda Dixon

Mandy Reedyk

This month's projects were inspired by my oldest daughter, who is 12 1/2. She knows I always make a quick back to school treat and she asked me to make her something that wasn't so "kiddish"! OH BOY!!! Where did my baby go??? She told me she likes all my goodies, but wanted something she can bring to school and have her friends, really, really want it too!!! Well, I get it, she's a pre-teen, fitting in is so important! But hmmm a few more years of her enjoying the little things would be OK too!!!!

Sooo, I had to truly make sure she wouldn't be embarrassed and be proud to show her friends what I made her!  Ok well she is 7th grade and her supply list included LOTS of notebooks Composition Books. Then remembered I had purchased a few Composition books awhile back, with the intention of making teacher gifts. Well that didn't happen.  So I decorated one for her.
This is what I came up with. Definitely not the traditional back to school treats you'd find on Pinterest. But I am extremely happy with the results and my daughter absolutely LOVED it! She's was beaming and super excited to bring to school. I can't wait to hear what her friends think.

Ok I took an ordinary Composition book and covered the outside front cover and back cover using the By the Shore DSP. I used two sheets of 12x12 and cut them down to 7x 9 3/4. I rounded to corners to match the notebook. Before gluing the paper down, I adhered about 16" of the Mint Macaroon Mini Striped Ribbon and the same of the Dapper Denim Ruched Ribbon. I repeated this on the back cover. Then I adhered the paper down.
I decided to make a little pocket for the inside of the notebook to hold pens/pencils or notes. I just love the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits and Writing Notes stamp. Perfect! I cut 2 sets of the mini treat bags in Whisper White. I stamped the Writing Notes with Dapper Denim. I am making two treat bags, one that will be the pocket for the notebook and one that will be my daughter's card.

Don't you just hate when you stamp and everything is perfect except for a smudge ahhh. Well I decided to cover the smudge rather than starting over!  I used the colors in the DSP which were Dapper Denim, Calypso Coral and Mint Macaroon.  I cut a few 1" strips and used the Triple Banner Punch to flag the ends. Stapled them to the treat bag. I grabbed a handful of pencils and tied them together with the Dapper Denim Ruched Ribbon.

The pocket looked a little bare, so I used the Perfectly Wrapped stamp set. Stamped the circle, flower and sentiment and punched it out with the 2" circle punch!

Now for the cover; I decided to use the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits, I cut out a few flowers, hearts and butterflies. The "for you" is from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits.  I also doubled each flower/heart and butterfly to use on her card, as well, so I wouldn't have to do it later. Finished off the front with some Basic Rhinestones.
 Love it!!!!
To make the card was pretty simple as well!  Since I pretty much prepped the card as I was doing the notebook, it was more or less just assembling. I also added the Marquee Messages stamp set to the card.

I made the inside a notecard she can pull out. I used Dapper Denim as my base, with a layer of DSP and Whisper White.

I stamped, in Dapper Denim, "so proud of you" at the bottom of Whisper White. I added the butterfly and some Basic Rhinestones.

I cut a strip of Calypso Coral and flag it at both ends, folded it in half. I also add a piece of the Dapper Denim Ruched Ribbon and stapled onto the top of the notecard so it can be used to pull the notecard out.

Before adhering the flowers, I stamped the YOU ARE at the top of the treat bag. I glued the flowers/heart/butterfly down.  The Awesome sentiment was stamped on a piece of Whisper White and each end was flagged, I added Basic Rhinestones, and attached with Dimensionals.

I really love how the projects came out! Best of all I had a very happy 12 1/2 year old!

I hope you enjoyed them too.
Thanks for joining me in the Blog Hop
Happy Stampin

Great minds think a like! Love your notebook and the use of Sunshine wishes. It's beautiful. Cute idea with the card or pencil pouch out of the mini treat bag. I will definitely be casing that one.
