I participate in a monthly swap. April's swap needed to be a card with a fancy fold. I have always wanted to try a stepped card. So I searched YouTube for instructional videos. I came across a video for a side step card and really like it. I am sure if you visi YouTube and Pinterest you will find so many samples of Side-Step cards. But like I said I liked this one, so I decided to make that type of card for the swap. It was much easier that I ever imagined it was. I really liked the idea of using the Retiring In Colors. I think it was a great way to showcase these pretty colors!
To Make the card, I used the Stampin' Trimmer for the cutting and scoring. Cut a piece of card stock to 5 7/8x 8 1/4 Score on the 5 7/8 side at 2inches, turn to the 8 1/4 side (make sure the 2" score line is at the bottom. Score down to the that 2" score line at 2 1/8, 5 1/4, 6 1/4 and 7 1/8 mark. Then with the same side score at 4 1/8 all the way down to the bottom of paper. This will be your cards half fold. Next turn your paper back to the 5 7/8 side. Line the 2" scored line on your cutting blade. Cut down for the 1st score line down to the last score line. (Do no score from one end to the other or you card will not stand) Fold your card in half at the 4 1/8 score line and burnish with bone folder. To create the step part of the card, fold back and forth accordion style. I stamped 6 flowers (2 in each color) and punched them out with the Blossom Punch. Stamp the center of the flower in Pistachio pudding and punch out with the 1" circle punch. Align your flowers on the steps. And stick them them down. Add rhinestones to embellish. Create the tag. The tag measures 2x3. Walla your card is down. Refer to the video for more details or to see the step by step. Happy card making Enjoy Steph!
